Introduction
In June, 1998, Marvine Waite, General Custodian of the MCA, called a special meeting of the General Council and the MCA Steering Committee (which had been formed in 1996, and added to as needed in 1998). The purpose of the meeting was to discuss her proposal for a General Cenacle of the MCA on April 22-25, 1999 in Holy Trinity, Alabama. Another issue was whether or not this General Cenacle would be the forum for electing the next General Custodian and Assistant General Custodian, which would replace the current ballot method. July 11-12, 1998 The meeting of the Council and Steering Committee took place in Baltimore, facilitated by Sr. Brenda Hermann, MSBT. Consensus was reached to proceed with the General Cenacle, but not to hold elections by delegates at that time. Instead, the General Cenacle would provide a slate of nominees for election by all the Associates. It was agreed that the General Cenacle will be represented by delegates from each region and the area of Costa Rica. It was the consensus that the number of delegates would be apportioned according to the relative size of each region. July 15, 1998 Marvine asked Virgenmina Lugo and Josle Morales to co-chair a planning committee for the General Cenacle. Debby McDermott and Pat Regan were asked to join them on the committee. Sept 13-14, 1998 The planning committee met in Jersey City, NJ, to develop a plan for implementing the General Cenacle. Fr. John Edmunds, S.T., hosted the participants and facilitated the meeting. October 2, 1998
The planning committee presented their recommendations to the MCA General Council for their review.
1. To elicit nominations and produce a slate of candidates for the positions of General Custodian and Assistant General Custodian. We recommend that voting be limited to the General Council members and delegates. Any other MCA Associates attending the Leadership Assembly (e.g., team members who are not delegates) will not vote for the slate, although they may participate in other aspects of the gathering. This will ensure that the voting is done only by those people who have been chosen by their peers to represent them. Only nominees put forth by the Leadership Assembly will be on the ballot. 2. To define issues facing the MCA for the next four years. We believe it is critical that we invite the entire MCA to participate 'in this aspect of the leadership Assembly. We suggest a process of engaging the membership through two mailings. The first letter and reflection questions will be mailed in October 1998. We will collect the input received into a report and return it to the Associates in January 1999 to prioritize the issues. By the end of March, the planning conunittee, working with the facilitators, will decide on the final issues to be brought to the Leadership Assembly. This will ensure that the 'ssues to be discussed at the Leadership Assembly arise out of as broad a base as possible.
The timing of the assembly coincides with the 90th anniversary of the foundation of the Missionary Cenacle Apostolate. A verse from scripture provides the theme for our gathering:
We thank Christ Jesus our Lord, who has strengthened us. That he has made us servants and judged us faithfiil.
As we gather together on our 90th anniversary, our hearts are filled with gratitude for all that the Lord has
done for us. As we celebrate the legacy of Father Judge and the Missionary Cenacle, we celebrate also our
vocation as servants - servants of our Triune God, of the poor and spiritually abandoned, of each other, of
the entire Missionary Cenacle Family. Looking to the future, we renew our commitment to the charism of
the Missionary Cenacle Apostolate and pray that the Lord 'will continue to judge us faithful to our calling.

Introducción En junio de 1998, Marvine Waite, Custodia General del ACM, organizó una reunión del Consejo General del ACM y el Comité Timón (que fue formado en 1996). El propósito de esta reunión fue discutir la propuesta del Cenáculo General del ACM 22-25 de abril de 1999 en Holy Trinity, Alabama. Vamos a utilizar los fondos donados por los Siervos Misioneros de la Santísima Trinidad del 1ero de julio de 1998. El número de delegados será de acuerdo a los números de Asociados en cada región. El 15 de juli de 1998, Marvine le pidió a Virgemina Lugo y a Josie Morales ser parte del Comité del Cenáculo General. Ellas, a su vez, le pidieron a Debbie McDermott y a Pat Regan a ser parte de este Comité. El 13-14 de septiembre de 1998, el Comité se reunió en Jersey City, New Jersey, para desarrollar un plan para implementar el Cenáculo General. El Padre John Edmunds, ST, dirigió la reunión. El 2 de octubre de 1998, el Comité presentó sus recomendaciones al Consejo General del ACM para su revisión. La Naturaleza y El Propósito de la Asamblea de Liderazgo Desde que sentimos que el título de "Cenáculo General" no es conocido entre las personas laicas, recomendamos que la reunión se llame Asamblea de Liderazgo 1. Solicitar nominaciones y tener una lista de candidatos para la posición de Custodio General o Asistente al Custodio General. Recomendamos que los votos sean limitados al Consejo y a los delegados. Cualquier otro que no sea delegado del ACM asistiendo a la Asamblea de Liderazgo no votará pero puede participar en otros aspectos de la reunión. Así aseguramos que los que participan en laselecciones sean los que han sido seleccionados para representar su compañeros. Solamente los nominados por la Asamblea de Liderazgo estarán en la nomina de votos. 1. Definir los temas que enfrentarán el ACM en los próximos cuatro años. Invitamos a todos los miembros al ACM a que participen en este aspectos de la Asamblea de Liderazgo. Sugerimos que los miembros se comprometan a través de dos correspondencias. La primera carta y las preguntas de reflexión serán enviadas en octubre de 1998. Pondremos las respuestas en un reporte y devolverlas a los asociados en enero para ponerlos temas en orden de prioridad. Para el final de marzo, el Comité, junto con los facilitadores, decidirán los temas finales que se llevarán a la Asamblea de Liderazgo. Esto nos asegura que los temas para tratarse en la Asamblea de Liderazgo hayansalido de una base más mayor posible. La fecha de la asamblea coincide con el 90 aniversario de la fundación de el Apostolado del Cenáculo Misionero. Un verso de las escrituras nos provee con el lema de la reunión. Le damos gracias a Cristo Jesús, nuestro Señor, porque me ha juzgado digno de confianza llamándome a su servicio. 1 de Timoteo 1:12 Según nos reunimos para el 90 aniversario, nuestros corazones se llenan con gratitud por lo que el ha hecho por nosotros. Según celebramos la herencia del Padre Judge y el Cenáculo Misionero, también celebramos nuestra vocación como siervos de nuestro Dios Trino, de los pobres y espiritualmente abandonados, el uno por el otro, de la Familia del Cenáculo Misionero. Mirando hacia el futuro, renovamos nuestro compromiso al Carisma del Apostolado del Cenáculo Misionero y rezamos quel el Señor continue juzgándo nos digno de confianza. |
