Missionary Cenacle Family Newsletter

Fall of 2003

What is the mission, the call of the Missionary Cenacle Family to the Church and society of the 21st Century?  With this question in mind, the MCFC met in Philadelphia, in September of 2003, to begin their next year of meetings.

Aware that we will celebrate our 100th year anniversary in 2009, the Council reflected that the Family of today is not the Family of our founding.  Do we make a difference in the Church and society?

As a result, our call is ever in need of reflection and discussion of the signs of the times. The Family council began this reflection using the readings of the Sunday, John 3: 13-17.

The reflection brought forth the conviction that we, as a Family have a spirituality that is a distinct gift to the Church and society.  We have a methodology for forming apostles in everyday life, and we have insights into forming councils who depend upon the gift of counsel.

The Family Council made the final decision on the production of a formation video or DVD. This DVD will identify that which is common in our formation programs. It can be used as a supplement to already existing formation programs in each of the branches.

The document on “Taking Counsel” has been submitted to the Missionary Cenacle press. This document in both Spanish and English will offer concrete examples, and the history of councils in the Family.

The council expressed hope that the web site on Peace and Justice will be better utilized by the all of the Family members. It is hoped that this can become an interactive site with members connecting with each other around social justice concerns or projects.

The next meeting of the Family Council will be in January of 2004 in Philadelphia. At this meeting the Council will reflect on the spirituality of the Missionary Cenacle Family and its connection to the poor, issues of peace and justice, and the new evangelization. The Council will begin the planning for our anniversary and how to take further counsel from the members beyond Jubilee 2000.  The members of the Family Council are:
