Missionary Cenacle Family Council Newsletter: February 2005
The Missionary Cenacle Family Council met January 7-9, 2005 at Mother Boniface Spirituality Center, Philadelphia, Pennsylvania. The process of identifying a theme for the 2009 Missionary Cenacle Family Jubilee continued with the Family Council viewing a video, “Belonging: The Search for Acceptance,” a film essay on the social vision of Jean Vanier, founder of L’Arche (The Ark) movement. The purpose of viewing it was to provoke the Family Council to think very broadly about the meaning of mission in today’s reality. The film identified the need to belong as common to all humanity and especially dwelt on the weakest among us – immigrants, refugees, the poor, etc. Most of all, it indicated that war is the opposite of belonging and that today, we are all, through our common mission, called to be artisans of peace.
A Core Committee was created with members from each branch to begin preparations for the Jubilee celebration. The Jubilee gathering will be a grand celebration of the first 100 years of the Missionary Cenacle!
A model of Council based on “Spirituality and the Poor” is being distributed to all members of the Missionary Cenacle Family for reflection and input. You should be receiving a copy soon from the person in your branch responsible for communications.
The Family Council decided that the four branches may post the following documents on their websites to make them more available: The Missionary Cenacle Ordo, the Meditations, and the booklet, Taking Counsel Together. You are asked to make a donation to the Missionary Cenacle Press if you download any of these documents (3501 Solly Ave., Philadelphia, PA 19136).
The next meeting of the MCFC is April 15-17, 2005 in Philadelphia.
